100 Miles in May: Alaskans log movement for a healthier future

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – From walking and biking to gardening and yard work, the goal is simple: get active and log your movement.

The 100 Miles in May challenge, now in its 20th year, is hosted by Healthy Futures, a statewide nonprofit focused on encouraging physical activity, especially in children. It’s open to all ages and all fitness levels, with participants pledging to log 100 miles of movement throughout the month of May.

“First off, it’s May, and everyone kind of wants to get moving and get in shape for summer,” said Harlow Robinson, Executive Director of Healthy Futures. “Even if you’re just out doing yard work, like I’ve been doing a lot of yard work, and I go in, and get on my computer and I enter 120 minutes of yard work, and it gives me about two and a half, three miles.”…
