Chugiak’s Alliyah Fields and Dimond’s Nevaeh Watkins were unstoppable in their state title defense, with Fields completing the 400/800 double and running a leg on the winning 4×400, while Watkins went two-for-two in the high jump and 100 hurdles.
The two led their respective teams in a tight battle which saw the Mustangs collect their fourth-straight title at the ASAA/First National Bank Alaska Track & Field State Championships.
Fields completed an ambitious schedule, winning the 400 in 57.85 seconds and clocking 2:16.03 in the 800, before racing in the 200 finals and anchoring the winning 4×400 in a school-record 4:03.30 — the No. 5 time in Alaska high school history — all within 2.5 hours…
