Lawyer for 10 Whittier family members says delays expected in Alaska voter misconduct case

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The lawyer representing 10 different American Samoan family members who are accused by state prosecutors of committing voter misconduct said Thursday that he expects multiple delays in the case.

The argument against the family is that, as U.S. nationals, they were not allowed to vote in Alaska elections.

In a statement to Alaska’s News Source, Assistant Public Defender Matt DiTullio said he believes the case’s pre-indictment stage will continue until each of the 10 cases is resolved – either through charges being dismissed, negotiations with the state, or the cases being moved to superior court – or go to trial…
