Much appreciated sunshine across Southcentral, with more rain into the weekend

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Outside of some spot showers, much-needed sunshine is returning to Southcentral as the week draws to a close. The start of June has been on the cooler side, with the weekend set to continue that trend with more rain in the forecast. However, beyond this weekend, there is sure signs of warmer weather heading into the state.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

Any lingering showers across Southcentral are primarily confined to northern parts of the Susitna Valley this morning and areas of Prince William Sound. Elsewhere, the long-lost sun has made a return to Southcentral. It will grace us with its appearance for most of the day, with clouds set to return into the night. Today, though, will shape up to be the nicest day this week, with temperatures warming well into the 50s and possibly some 60s through the Valley. If we manage to warm into the 60s, don’t be surprised to see a spotty to isolated storm fire later this afternoon into the evening hours. We’ll also see some gusty conditions develop later today, with winds of 20 to 40 mph across parts of Southcentral…
