Anchorage is welcoming a wave of U.S. Navy presence this week as the city hosts its first-ever Navy Week.
Each summer, the Navy selects 15 cities across the country—typically those without a strong naval presence—to help build connections between sailors and local communities. While Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is home to some Navy personnel, this marks the first official Navy Week for Alaska’s largest city.
