Hazy skies, thunderstorms, heat and flooding caused by snowmelt gripping Alaska

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Summer officially begins later this week, with temperatures across the state already on the rise. Several areas throughout the Interior remain under red flag warnings, fire weather concerns, and heat advisories, with locations along the Slope seeing flooding caused by snowmelt. It’s certainly a week you’ll want to remain abreast of any updates, as daily storms could pose some wildfire risks across the state.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

Hazy skies remain across Southcentral, although mostly cloudy to overcast skies are limiting who is seeing the haze. Thankfully, the haze is high enough in our atmosphere that no smoke smell will make it to the surface. Our ridge is the primary influence that is driving the haze, as winds in the upper levels are moving in from the east, which will also lead to some showers spreading across Southcentral into Tuesday…
