ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Juneteenth is a day of celebration for Americans, and a time to recall the end of chattel slavery on June 19, 1865.
Juneteenth events began the weekend before June 19 and closed on the historic day. Following multiple days of celebrating, remembrance, and community togetherness, Juneteenth events in Anchorage came to a close with the grand opening of the Alaska Black Caucus Equity Center.
