Anchorage teens gain job skills and build trails through summer YEP program

This summer, teens in Anchorage are putting in hard work—and gaining valuable experience—through the Youth Employment in Parks (YEP) program.

So far, the YEP crew has helped maintain trails at Baxter Park, tackled improvements along the Virgin Creek Falls trail in Girdwood, and now they’re turning their attention to Far North Bicentennial Park, where they’re building a brand-new bike trail and bridge.

The teens say the hands-on projects have been rewarding in more ways than one…
