AROUND ALASKA: Bear Encounter, David Spade and Cruiser Contest!

When Alaska’s Division of Homeland Security brought an Earthquake Simulator to the Trailside Discovery Camp in Anchorage, a bear decided to join the fun by swiping a camper’s lunchbox. The department posted that “thanks to quick action from counselors,” campers were safely escorted away and everyone went home with stories to tell.

Some good news for people traveling this upcoming holiday weekend. The state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities reports the southbound Knik River Bridge will reopen on Wednesday. Both bridges will be open over the Fourth of July holiday weekend with work resuming on Monday, the 7th.
