Strong upper level ridge leading to hot and dry conditions across parts of Alaska

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – A fairly stout ridge continues to lead to warmer weather for much of the state, with highs each day warming into the 80s and possible near 90 degrees through the close of the week. Locations that will see some of the warmest weather will be the Interior north to the Brooks Range and Slope. As the ridge remains with us, the hot and dry conditions will see little improvement, with wildfire activity remaining a concern.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

While the influence of the ridge isn’t greatly felt in Southcentral, we are seeing some pleasant and fairly seasonal weather. While some locations will be slightly above average, it will only be a few degrees above what a typical July brings. Anchorage officially hit 70 degrees yesterday, marking the 3rd time this year that we’ve warmed into the 70s. Coming off a cool June, July is flipping, with the summer warmth gripping many areas of the state…
