ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A recent dry spell throughout southeast paired with warm temperatures has led to an uptick in fire activity according to a pair of Anchorage firefighters.
On the Fourth of July Holiday, Anchorage Firefighters Efren Jauregui and Gary Weaver were two of the members of the departments Wildfire Division responding to calls.
“Those dry, windy conditions, they’re affecting Anchorage, too,” Weaver said. “Everything South of the Alaska Range is getting affected, so it hits Anchorage a little bit later than it does the interior, but this week especially, we’re seeing an uptick in fire activity.”…
