‘She will never meet her father’: brother of man shot and killed responds after convicted killer sentenced to 77 years

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A man convicted of first and second-degree murder for killing his apartment manager in 2023 was sentenced to 77 years on Friday.

Jesse Lee Jones, 28, was convicted in February on all charges in the death of Josiah Goecker and assault of Rosemarie Ortiz at the Alpine Apartments in Anchorage. In addition to the murder charges, he was convicted of third-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.

According to the Alaska Department of Law, prior to sentencing, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Andrew Peterson heard from nine members of the Goecker family about the impact the crime has had on them.

Each of the family members expressed heartfelt emotion about Goecker’s life and the kind and compassionate husband, father, son, brother, and community member he was. Peterson also heard from members of Jones’ family and from Jones himself…
