Some lucky kids spent their summer day getting up close with Alaska’s feathered wildlife.
Anchorage’s Bird Treatment and Learning Center, better known as Bird TLC, hosted another session of its new summer series: Ambassador Bird Tuesday. The program gives families the chance to meet some of the center’s permanent residents—birds that can’t be released back into the wild due to injury or imprinting.
Among the featured guests are Cook the bald eagle and Shavila the magpie, both of whom help teach visitors about their species and their personal journeys…
