An earthquake has rattled the area just miles north of an Alaskan volcano that’s been exhibiting signs of unrest, raising alarming concerns about a possible eruption.
The US Geological Survey clocked the tremor at a magnitude of 4.6 near Petersville, which lies about 86 miles from the agitated Mount Spurr. The Alaska Earthquake Center reported: “We have reviewed a M4.6 earthquake that occurred at 10:38 a.m. local time, 52.4 miles deep and 34 miles north of Skwentna.”
