ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Military families move every two to three years on average, according to the Defense Department.
As Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders are sent throughout the summer months, many children of service members are facing big changes — navigating new schools and social circles.
“They’re having to reestablish everything from a driver’s license to where their favorite place to eat dinner is,” explained Dr. MaryBeth Goodman, Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics of Alaska director. “[Military kids] transition and they know how to make friends and they’re so outgoing most of the time. But they also have those spots of ‘wait a minute, it’s different here.’”…
