She ‘bit into a biscuit and broke’ her tooth: Dental needs expected to increase in Alaska with Medicaid cuts

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Connie Register said her dentures were already on their last leg when she experienced the final straw: last week, she bit into a biscuit and broke another tooth.

“I use superglue to hold them together, and after a while, they don’t fit,” Register said. “You can’t really have a pretty smile.”

At 66 years old, Register is still working but has no dental benefits. She can’t afford new dentures, making her an excellent candidate for “Community Dental Day” on Tuesday, sponsored by the Libby Dental Group in Anchorage, which donated its services to about 35 people in need that day…
