Anchorage firefighter injured after being assaulted while responding to fire

An Anchorage firefighter was injured last Thursday while responding to an alarm at a South Anchorage assisted living facility.

According to the Anchorage Fire Department, Engine 7 responded after a resident activated a pull station. While speaking with the resident, the firefighter was assaulted and knocked to the ground. The crew quickly intervened, and Anchorage Police Department officers arrived to arrest the resident.

The firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The department said it will support the firefighter through treatment and recovery…
