Hikers will need to find an alternate route if they plan to explore the Rodak Loop Trail in Chugach State Park. The trail is now closed until further notice due to brown bears in the area. With the bears more active, park rangers want to limit the risk of humans running into them. The closure impacts the salmon viewing deck, beaver deck, and staff service road. However, the Iditarod-Crow Pass Trail and Dew Mound Trail are still open.

The 2025 Alaska Youth Suicide Prevention Summit is being held on Friday, September 12, at the convention center. The event is geared toward kids ages 13 to 19 with a day full of activities and insight.
