WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – The Mat-Su Borough, with the help of volunteers, is removing tons of trash from numerous Wasilla neighborhoods. Starting on Thursday this week, the borough, alongside Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints volunteers, have been working on removing trash from the Williwaw subdivision in Wasilla. The clean-up efforts, the Mat-Su Borough said, are targeting removing hazardous items, trash and junk vehicles.
“This is the highest concentration of code compliance cases where people are in violation in the borough,” Wade Long, with the Mat-Su Borough, said. “Oftentimes, as we found with code compliance cases, that there’s people that are in all walks of life. Some are socioeconomically disadvantaged, and it’s just the right thing to do.”
As of Friday afternoon, volunteers had already filled up over 10 large dumpsters…
