Fleet of rubber ducks float Ship Creek for charities around Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It was a sight to behold: thousands of rubber ducks floating down Ship Creek in the name of raising funds for nonprofits around Alaska. The fake waterfowl making their way down the stream is part of the annual Great Alaska Duck Race.

”This our 7th annual Great Alaska Duck Race. This is a fundraiser and a very fun, family-friendly event,” Great Alaska Duck Race official, Kelsey Lellig said.

Some of the nonprofits benefitting this year are Alaska Excel, Anchorage Hockey Association, Habitat for Humanity, Alaska Zoo, Covenant House, Alaska Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and American Lung Association Alaska, Lellig said. Those aren’t the only winners, though; members of the community have a chance to win a cash prize as well…
