AROUND ALASKA: School Constructions, Temple Groundbreaking, and Playground Rescue!

A brand new charter school is taking shape in Wasilla. Mat-Su Borough shared photos as part of a “construction update” on social media. Progress is being made at the new American Charter Academy on Church Road near Seldon in Wasilla. Officials say cement was just poured into the main foundation.

Ground was recently broken on the new Fairbanks Alaska Temple on Geist Road. State Senator Scott Kawasaki attended the ceremonies and just shared some photos on social media. This temple will be the first in Fairbanks and the second in Alaska.

Firefighters in Fairbanks came to the rescue of a little boy at a local playground. He got his finger stuck in one of the park bench holes. Crews actually cut out a section of the bench and then very carefully freed the boy’s finger. They say he’ll have no problems counting to ten…
