Strong showings at Lewis Crossover catapults Seawolves onto national rankings

After a pair of ninth-place finishes against a strong field at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill., the UAA men’s and women’s cross country teams appear in the national rankings for the first time since 2019.

Sophomore Alex Otto led the Seawolves, covering the 6-kilometer course in 21 minutes, 59.5 seconds to take 18th in the women’s race, while graduate student John Peckham clocked 24:31.5 to place 21st in the men’s 8-kilometer race.

Otto, a multi-sport athlete from Germany, found herself in the lead pack from the start and maintained her position against the field of 336 athletes. She finished as the top GNAC athlete in the field and placed seventh among those representing the West Region…
