Halong disaster relief: avoiding AI scams

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – AI-generated scam operations are targeting Alaskans trying to help victims of former Typhoon Halong, which displaced 1,800 people across more than 50 communities and villages last week, state officials warn.

Jeremy Zidek, Alaska’s Department of Homeland Security’s Public Information Officer, said when disaster strikes, his office understands the urge to help is immediate and powerful.
