The Cherokee Nation has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support rescue and relief operations in Alaska after Typhoon Halong. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. announced the donation during a visit to Anchorage. The funds will help Native Alaskan villages affected by the storm. Chief Hoskin encouraged others to support ongoing relief efforts.
The Cherokee Nation has a long-standing partnership with the American Red Cross. Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner referred to the Cherokee value of ‘Gadugi,’ which means working together to help others. He said these values guide the Nation’s response to disasters like Typhoon Halong.
