Anchorage police identify suspects in most of five recent homicides

The Anchorage Police Department is reporting progress in multiple homicide cases over the past 10 days. Five homicides occurred in that span, and suspects have been identified and charged in most of the cases.

In one case, 36-year-old Joshua Gibbs has been remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex. On October 21, an Anchorage grand jury indicted Gibbs on charges including first- and second-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons in the third degree, and third-degree assault, connected to a homicide at the Circle K on the 2500 block of C Street.

Another investigation involves 30-year-old Deonte Gaskins. He was remanded on October 18 on charges of tampering with physical evidence in a separate homicide on Fiddlehead Place. On October 23, Gaskins was additionally charged with first- and second-degree murder…
