Change of Address: USPS urging evacuees to provide an updated address

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) is urging evacuees impacted by former Typhoon Halong to submit a Change of Address request, in order to have their mail delivered. That includes evacuees currently living in an Anchorage shelter.

Following Halong, residential mail from Kwigillingok and Kipnuk is now going directly to the Egan Center in downtown Anchorage, where evacuees from the storm are staying. Evacuees have the ability to pick-up their mail daily, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, at the the site’s makeshift mailroom.

“Mail’s important, especially to Alaskans,” James Boxrud, a spokesperson with the USPS, said. “We become a lifeline, especially to the villages. You know, in there is, you know, life-saving medication, regular medication. Our mail flies with food and other things these villages need to survive.”…
