IRS offers tax relief for those impacted by Halong

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The IRS will be providing tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by the remnants of former Typhoon Halong, according to the IRS.

These taxpayers will have until May 1 to file individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. Individuals who live in or have a business in the Lower Kuskokwim Regional Educational Attendance Area, Lower Yukon Regional Educational Attendance Area and Northwest Arctic Borough qualify for tax relief.

The May 1 deadline applies to individual income tax returns and payments normally due on or after Oct 8, 2025, according to the IRS. Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after Oct. 8, and before May 1, will be abated as long as the tax deposits are made by May 1…
