Food Bank of Alaska supports residents amid SNAP disruptions, shutdown impact

The Food Bank of Alaska is continuing to operate despite disruptions to federal SNAP benefits caused by the ongoing government shutdown.

Your Alaska Link visited the warehouse on Viking Drive, where some shelves were noticeably low while others had limited supplies. Organizers say they are doing everything possible to support the community.

“We are encouraging people to still apply for SNAP benefits even through the shutdown period, because the state will still be processing the applications and we’re still working to get those through,” said Katie Schrooten of the Food Bank of Alaska…
