Drivers in the Mat-Su Valley are being reminded to use extra caution at the Palmer-Fishhook and Trunk Road intersection. The state transportation department says motorists should pull all the way forward and stop at the white line to ensure proper visibility of oncoming traffic.
Need some firewood? Residents can collect free logs this weekend at the Sterling Highway Project near milepost 46. Logs are about 20 feet long, and participants must bring their own equipment. The offer is open to residents only — no contractors allowed. Free firewood is also available from the Glennallen Fuel Break project. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources says the first mile of the vegetation-clearing project is now 80 percent complete, and residents can gather wood from the area.
