A hit-and-run crash in Midtown Anchorage has left one person dead, and police say the driver responsible is now in custody.
Officers were called to the area of Fireweed Lane and D Street just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, after reports that a pedestrian had been struck. When police arrived, they found the victim dead at the scene.
Investigators say the driver took off before officers arrived, but they were able to track him down a short time later. 61-year-old John Ivory was arrested and is believed to have been under the influence when the crash happened…
