On October 30, 2025, Anchorage police and fire medics responded to a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision at Fireweed Lane and D Street. The incident happened at 9:35 PM. A pedestrian was crossing outside the crosswalk west of Eide Street when an eastbound SUV struck them. The pedestrian died at the scene.
Police identified the driver as 61-year-old John Ivory. He left the scene but was found and arrested soon after. Ivory was taken to Anchorage Jail on DUI charges.
