Federal Emergency Funding Approved to Support Alaska Communities After Typhoon Halong

On October 28, 2025, Secretary Kristi Noem announced the approval of $1 million in expedited FEMA funding for Alaska. The funding will help the state recover from Typhoon Halong, which struck in early October. This assistance is part of FEMA’s disaster program. It aims to stabilize hazardous conditions, make temporary repairs to critical infrastructure, and support emergency operations in affected communities.

The Department of Homeland Security is focusing on a rapid response. As of November 3, 147 FEMA staff have been deployed to Bothell and Anchorage to coordinate relief efforts.
