ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Veteran’s Day ceremony scheduled for Tuesday on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson has been canceled due to the current government shutdown, base officials said Thursday.
Due to what they called a “lapse in appropriations and inability to host public events” resulting from the shutdown, the ceremony is the latest casualty of the political standstill that has dragged on for 37 days as of Thursday; it broke the record for longest government shutdown on Tuesday night.
