ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Residents of Kipnuk met at Bettye Davis East Anchorage East High School on Wednesday for the first large meeting of the community since leaving congregate shelters following their evacuation from the small village due to the devastation of ex-Typhoon Halong.
Representatives of the State of Alaska, FEMA and the Small Business Administration were at the meeting to inform the community about disaster response.
While state responders are on the ground in Southwestern Alaska communities coordinating with federal agencies, their response to the disaster will not be to relocate to the communities, but to rebuild what they can…
