Utqiagvik is about to enter a time known as “Polar Night.” On Tuesday, November 18, the National Weather Service says the sun will set in Utqiagvik — the community formerly known as Barrow — just like it does on so many other days of the year. But this time, it will not rise again until January 22. Could you handle that? Two months of no sun? This phenomenon, which happens each year, is known as Polar Night.
