Anchorage Man Sentenced to Additional 20 Years for Leading Major Alaska Drug Trafficking Operation

An Anchorage man already serving time in federal prison has been sentenced to an additional 20 years for leading a major drug trafficking operation that moved large quantities of dangerous drugs throughout Alaska.

Rodney Godwin, 51, received the sentence in federal court after pleading guilty to engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise. The new sentence will run consecutive to a separate 20-year federal sentence he received in 2023, leaving him facing nearly four decades in prison.

According to court records, Godwin organized and operated a drug trafficking network between April and December 2023 while he was already under indictment for another federal drug crime. Investigators said the organization imported and distributed more than 3.8 kilograms of fentanyl, 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine and 1.3 kilograms of heroin across Alaska.
