ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Several revenue related items are on the agenda for Tuesday night’s Anchorage assembly meeting, including a new sales tax and a tax on short-term rentals.
The 5% tax proposal on short term rentals was ultimately postponed further to the next meeting of the Assembly on December 12. The proposed 3% sales tax is scheduled for public hearings, whether or not a vote is held, or if it is postponed is still uncertain.
There was also continued public hearing on an ordinance that would require owners to register short-term rentals with the municipality for tax purposes. The assembly voted to continue public hearing on that motion at their meeting on December 16…
