ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – When a car skidded out of control and hit a pole on the icy Glenn Highway Monday morning, paratroopers from the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment sprang into action.
Company Commander Capt. Ryan Ingram remembers where he and his team were when they noticed the accident that struck at the weigh station across from the Eagle River dump.
“We come rolling in at the weigh station to check all our chains and everything, make sure that nuts, bolts and everything were all good, and then two of my guys … started to see a civilian vehicle start sliding on the road, and then that civilian vehicle hit the telephone pole,” Ingram said…
