10 kilos of meth, fentanyl and heroin seized, Anchorage man sentenced to 15 years

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – An Anchorage man with seven prior felony convictions was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in federal prison for trafficking large quantities of narcotics across Anchorage and possessing a firearm to support his drug trade, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Alaska.

Federal prosecutors said Thurman Reed, 67, sold fentanyl analogue (a powerful synthetic version that is often more powerful than the traditional version), heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine throughout early 2022.

Court records show Reed sold roughly six grams of fentanyl analogue and six grams of heroin in February, then sold more than 27 grams of a heroin-methamphetamine mixture in March. One week later, prosecutors said, he sold more than 49 grams of heroin.
