Wind Advisory Issued For North West Kenai Peninsula And Anchorage

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Northwest Kenai Peninsula and Anchorage from 11 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters say north winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected through the weekend, with gusts up to 50 mph possible. Wind chills are forecast to fall to between -5 and -15 degrees by Sunday evening.

The strongest winds are expected along the Knik Arm, West Anchorage, and along the coast of northern Cook Inlet.

The weather service warns that the gusty conditions could blow around unsecured objects, and isolated power outages are possible. Areas of blowing snow may develop near or shortly after the onset of the winds on Friday night…
