‘Hugs and smiles’: 40 students from Western Alaska adjust to school in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It’s been about 2 months since 40 students from Western Alaska joined Wendler Middle School, and school officials said it’s going well.

“Wendler was built for this transition,” Marcus Wilson, Wendler Principal said. “It’s been a difficult transition, but it’s also been a joyous transition.”

The students who were displaced from Typhoon Halong are entering classrooms together…
