Fort Richardson National Cemetery wreath laying honors fallen veterans

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – On a frigid, windy morning at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, hundreds braved the chill to adorn veterans’ graves with wreaths.

“Standing out here in the winter light, making time to honor them, is part of what it means to live and serve in Alaska,” U.S. Air Force Colonel Dustin Hansen said during his speech at the ceremony. “We show up for each other regardless of the numbing, bitter cold. We show up regardless of the long dark. We show up for each other regardless of the circumstances.”

The ceremony included various speeches, as well as ceremonial wreaths representing each branch of the military being placed on holders by servicemembers and other volunteers…
