ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Dozens of youths packed the Anchorage Midtown Fred Meyer location on Friday morning during the 26th annual Lisa Whitmore Shop with a Cop and Firefighter event. During the event, 85 youth, ranging from 5 to 12 years old, were gifted $225 for shopping.
“It feels great, because I don’t think we had time to go shopping,” Anuhea Lemalu, a ten-year-old participant, said. “[I bought] a lot of pillows and blankets… because my dog keeps biting my blankets and pillows.”
According to the Anchorage Police Department (APD), youth currently staying in shelters were picked up on Friday morning by Limousines and brought to the store.
