‘Have fun, stay safe and, if you are going to be using alcohol, please don’t be on the roads’

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage Police Chief Sean Case is encouraging people to enjoy the New Year’s holiday but reminds them to be responsible and follow the law. Case said extra police will be watching to make sure they do.

Case said there is always an overtime detail for the fireworks display in downtown Anchorage, especially with extra traffic in the area. But he added that additional officers are planned in other areas of Anchorage as well.

“We generally see just a significant increase in alcohol related and fireworks related calls for service, a lot of them during New Years, and so with those extra bodies, we want to respond to those calls at best as we can.”…
