Juneau sees ~100% of annual snowfall in the month of December

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Ongoing snow continues to smash records in Southeast, where more than 80 inches of snow have fallen in parts of Southeast just this month. While Southcentral has been dealing with a growing snowfall deficit, Southeast and Fairbanks remain above average in our snowfall department. Outside of the snow, the bitter cold continues to be the story as we close out 2025 and welcome in 2026.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

While not as cold as what the new year will usher in, this December is the coldest Anchorage has seen since 2010. Our average temperature for the month is around 13.5 degrees, with temperatures set to plummet as we ring in 2026.
