Anchorage sees drop in retail theft after coordinated enforcement strategy

Anchorage Police say their coordinated approach to fighting retail theft is showing results. The department reports a drop in theft-related crimes thanks to new enforcement strategies aimed at repeat offenders.

The Anchorage Police Department launched a plan combining a dedicated Retail Crime Unit, targeted Retail Blitz operations, and increased patrols during busy shopping periods. The goal: to curb organized and repeat retail theft while supporting local businesses.
