Certain AFD apparatuses understaffed, under the national standard

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Select Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) apparatuses are operating with three people per vehicle, slightly under the national standard of four firefighters per apparatus.

According to Chief Doug Schrage, that standard falls under the National Fire Protection Association, a nonprofit that creates code and standard with the goal of reducing fires and hazards.
