The Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center has issued an Avalanche Warning for a wide area of Southcentral Alaska, including the Anchorage Hillside, Girdwood, Portage, the Interior Kenai Peninsula, and the Southern Kenai Mountains.
Forecasters say backcountry avalanche danger is HIGH, with very dangerous conditions expected across the Western Chugach and Kenai Mountains. Affected areas include terrain in and around Anchorage, Girdwood, Portage, Turnagain Pass, Summit Lake, Lost Lake, and Seward.
