‘It’s night and day’: Snowy conditions lead to smooth skiing at Lynx Loppet meet one year after cancellation

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The 2026 Lynx Loppet high school cross-country ski meet brought more than 500 skiers from across Alaska to the snowy and well-groomed trails at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage Race Director Ida Gullett said.

It was a stark contrast to last year’s edition of the meet, which was canceled due to rain and lack of snow.

“It’s night and day. We have so much more snow.” Gullett said. “We’re about thirty degrees cooler this time around, and we’ve got a way better snow base.”…
