Winter Weather Advisories Forecast Heavy Snow, Hazardous Travel Across Kenai Peninsula and Turnagain Pass

Winter weather advisories are in effect Tuesday, February 10th, and into early Wednesday, February 11th, for large portions of the Kenai Peninsula and Turnagain Pass, with heavy snowfall, slick roads, and difficult travel expected.

For the northwest and southwest Kenai Peninsula, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, February 10th. Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are forecast, with the heaviest snowfall from mid-morning through early afternoon. The highest totals are expected along a corridor from Anchor Point northward to Nikiski, while inland areas are likely to see lower amounts.

Roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult at times, with impacts likely during both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes…
